It sounds like you’ve got a great setup going with your robotic arm and conveyor belt! When ultrasonic sensors give inconsistent readings, a few things could be happening.
One possibility is that there might be interference—the sensor could be picking up reflections from nearby surfaces or even from other objects moving around in the environment. Have you tried adjusting the position of the sensor or angling it slightly to minimize reflections?
Another thing to check is the wiring and connections. Sometimes, loose connections can cause fluctuations in the readings. Are the connections all secure?
Lastly, noise in the power supply can sometimes cause erratic sensor readings. Are you powering the sensor and Arduino from the same source? Maybe adding a capacitor could help stabilize the readings.
